Membership of fleet operators’ association ACFO looks set to break through the 1,000-member number for the first time.

ACFO’s membership is now well over 900 and those behind the organisation say initiatives now underway underway should increase that number.

The news was revealed at the organisation’s annual general meeting held in Birmingham last week, where directors Julie Jenner, a key solutions manager for GE Commercial Finance, Fleet Services, and Stewart Whyte, managing director of consultancy Fleet Audits, were re-elected to the board.

Chairman Ms Jenner said the growth of finance, HR and procurement professionals involved in fleet operations was behind the growth in ACFO membership. She said: “There are fewer people being employed within companies with the title of fleet manager, but that does not mean that the company car is dying.”

ACFO’s members have responsibilities for more than 700,000 UK vehicles and as well as fleet operators comprise suppliers to the industry such as manufacturers and contract hire and leasing companies. ACFO has nine regional groups and is considering forming a 10th for Ireland.
