The small SUV sector is the market undergoing most change at the moment with a host of new launches from manufacturers.

Jeep is the latest to enter the sector with its road-biased, part-time four-wheel drive Compass. With a price tag of just under £18,000 it is good value for money thanks to a lengthy list of standard equipment including leather seats.

But the competition in this sector is strong, and Honda’s new CR-aV is setting the standard in terms of comfort, performance and, more importantly, residual values. The Jeep is £1,000 cheaper at the front end, but can its RV match the British-build Honda?
