This is Volkswagen’s new SUV challenger, the Tiguan, caught with minimal disguise.

Strangely, this picture has been issued from Volkswagen rather than being caught by a spy photographer. The Tiguan, a rival for the Land Rover Freelander, is pictured during one of its final shakedown tests in Namibia.

Due to go on sale later this year with prices starting at £20,000, the Tiguan will offer off-road capability thanks to the 4MOTION four-wheel drive system.

Power will come from a pair of TDI diesels offering 140 or 170bhp and petrol units ranging from 140 to 200bhp.
