Hot on the heels of the launch of its Altea Freetrack, SEAT’s next 4x4 has been spotted testing in the desert.

Unlike the Freetrack – which is based on the Altea XL and is more of a fashion 4x4 than true mud-plugger – the new model will be far more capable off-road.

Based on the platform of the Tiguan from parent company Volkswagen, SEAT’s version will be a similar offering although will have a more sporty feel when it goes on sale next year.

Engines will be the familiar FSI petrols in 150, 170 and 200bhp guises, plus two TDI diesels with 140 and 170bhp.
