Mercedes-Benz has introduced an E-Class model tailored exclusively for company car drivers.
Based on the E220 CDI Classic, the Executive model is priced at £28,515 – £677 less than the Classic but featuring extra equipment which would normally cost more than £2,500.
The Executive comes with metallic paint and 16-inch alloy wheels as standard, as well as pre-wiring for a mobile which can be controlled via the multi-function steering wheel, wood trim, leather-effect seats automatic climate control and a six-disc CD changer.
The Pre-Safe accident mitigation system is standard.
Power comes from the familiar 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine which produces 170bhp and returns 44.8mpg on the combined cycle. CO2 emissions are 167g/km.
A six-speed manual is standard, with a five-speed auto available for £1,480. With the extra equipment levels and lower price, the Executive model will save a 40% taxpayer £270 a year in benefit-in-kind tax over the Classic version.
