Dean Garner, fleet co-ordinator, Brighton General Hospital

  • How many vehicles do you look after?

About 250 vehicles from three-door hatchbacks, to 4x4s, vans and specialist vehicles.

  • What do you enjoy about the job the most?

I enjoy working with people from many disciplines to source the vehicles that help them provide specialist services such as the Children’s Head Injury Unit.

  • Do you benefit from any perks at work?

The best I can ever hope for is the odd trial of a new vehicle. It’s the interest I have in the industry and the people I work with that are the biggest perks for me.

  • What is your biggest bugbear at work?

Nothing bugs me more than senior managers who send things back unsigned and lease companies who never get quotes right.

  • What would be your dream job?

Perhaps managing a blue light fleet – something with a bit of adrenalin.

  • Where was your last holiday?

What’s a holiday? I am off to Dublin, though, at the end of the month for some well-earned Guinness.
