The majority of high-profile court cases and legal case studies following crashes involve van fleet operators.

Over the past few years, van fleets have been hardest hit by prosecutions and legal action for failing in their duty of care to employees.

That is one of the reasons why the Fleet Van Conference 2007, on November 22, is such an important date in the fleet calendar this year.

It will be held at Millbrook Proving Ground, in Bedfordshire, and will provide a wealth of expert help on operating fleets of light commercial vehicles.

To help fleets understand their legal obligations, there will be three sessions covering safety and the law.

Other issues covered include general best practice, wholelife costs, funding, fuel economy and emissions, technology choices, handling fines and penalties and loading issues.

Case studies at the event include BSkyB and Royal Mail.
