Dodge will launch a new seven-seater people carrier at this month’s Frankfurt Motor Show.

The Journey, which goes on sale in the UK next summer, replaces the Chrysler Voyager in the group’s line-up.

An all-new Grand Voyager, also scheduled to make its debut at Frankfurt, will arrive here next year.

The Journey offers five seats and two occasional rear chairs, as well as a variety of storage areas. Power will come from a choice of either 2.4-litre petrol or 2.0-litre Volkswagen-sourced turbodiesel engines.

Chrysler Group managing director Peter Lambert said: “The Journey will attract drivers who need an MPV but don’t want to own a car with traditional people carrier looks. Our latest model will offer the same excellent value for money that Dodge customers have come to expect.”
