Ford has unveiled the production version of its sleek new Kuga SUV challenger ahead of its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

On sale in the UK next summer, the Kuga will be competing in a burgeoning sector which includes the Land Rover Freelander, Honda CR-V and Vauxhall Antara.

As well as traditional chunky SUV styling, the Kuga has a sloping, almost coupe-like roofline and retains many cues from the Iosis X concept car.

Similar in size to the Focus hatchback, the Kuga offers four-wheel drive and is powered by the familiar 2.0 TDCi turbodiesel engine offering 136bhp.
