Careers: How are you settling in?

Simon Protano, head of driver and fleet solutions

How was your first day?
Although it was the usual “meet and greet”, it was amazing to see how committed the staff a the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) are.

How does your new role vary from your previous jobs in driver training?
My new role has given me more of an opportunity to use my experience to influence the direction of driver training and road safety within the industry.

What has been your biggest challenge so far?
With so many changes to the industry coming in over the next couple of years, it would have to be planning the range of new products and services for our 2008 catalogue.

And your greatest achievement?
The 2008 catalogue.

What do you most enjoy about the job?
Meeting clients. It’s so important to understand first hand what clients want and to ensure we exceed their expectations.

What do you do to unwind?
Most of my spare time is spent with my four-year-old son who brings such joy into my life.
