Motrak has launched a discreetly fitted telematics unit that continually monitors and records a vehicle’s position, speed and distance travelled.
The data is transferred by the use of a GPRS wireless network allowing fleet operators to access this data via the internet.
The current location, status, direction and speed of a vehicle can be ascertained in seconds, enabling operators to check on vehicle progress and make sure staff are not driving at excess speeds or for excessive periods.
The unit’s mapping capabilities also allow operators to plan the most efficient routes for their vehicles, whether it is a simple A to B journey or a round trip with multiple stops. Prices start at 60p per day per vehicle.
