An alternative to conventional tracking systems has been launched by AutoAlert, which uses the iPhone.

The iPhone tracking system allows drivers to monitor their position and send alerts of problems using the mobile device.

“High data charges, onerous subscriptions and expensive hardware costs put individuals off the benefits of tracking,” said Asheet Advani, commercial director of AutoAlert.

“By providing an easy to use system free of charge to iPhone customers, AutoAlert offers an exciting alternative to other tracking systems.”

The AutoAlert system uses a simple tracking unit or iPhone along with a web-based or mobile phone-based control centre.
