BP has upgraded its fuel cards to give fleet managers more security and control of their drivers’ fuel purchasing and consumption.

It has also introduced improved online services which include new control and security measures to help combat fraud.

The fuel cards are the first to include new ‘alerts’ service, which sends an SMS or email to the fleet manager as soon as any predetermined limits are breached, such as filling up outside of a set region or excessive spending is detected.

In addition, the fuel provider’s cards are now all PIN-enabled. As an added security feature, drivers can self-select their own PIN rather than being allocated one that is an algorithm of their card number as is the industry standard.

The new online services also include downloadable on-the-road tools for fleet drivers including satellite navigation downloads, online network guides and an SMS BP network site locator.

Kathleen Callendar, business to business marketing manager for BP UK Fuels Marketing which operates the fuel card, said: "Through advanced reporting, BP PLUS Online Services gives fleet managers insights into an organisation’s fuel consumption and spend enabling them to control costs, reduce their carbon emissions and deliver savings.”
