The popular M-Class SUV has been given an overhaul by Mercedes-Benz.

The updated design is intended to look more powerful and sporty, with reshaped bumpers, headlamps and grille, as well as new smoked tail lights.

The interior has also had a revamp, with new materials and a two-tone colour scheme.

Standard specification has been upgraded, and now features safety systems such as the crash-anticipating PRE-SAFE and the NECK-PRO head restraint technology.

A new satellite navigation with Bluetooth telephony and an auxiliary socket for MP3 players has also been introduced.

Fuel consumption has been reduced by up to 1.1mpg across the range.

The new-look M-Class will appear in UK showrooms in the late autumn.
