MP apologises

Edward Leigh MP, the head of the Commons’ public accounts committee, has apologised for mistakenly accusing thousands of motorcyclists of evading vehicle excise duty.

He blamed the Department for Transport. He said: “I apologise to motorcyclists.

"The department did not give us all of the information we needed. I am writing to the department to seek an explanation.”
