Volkswagen is reviving the Golf GTI Pirelli, 25 years after it first appeared.

The GTI Pirelli was introduced in May 1983, based on the MkI Golf.

Now the latest GTI will take on the name.

Powered by a 2.0 T-FSI engine, it makes 227bhp – up from 197 in the standard GTI.

Unique 18-inch alloys are fitted, a Pirelli badge has been added to the boot and the interior features half-leather upholstery with tyre-tread imprint designs and yellow stitching.

The first vehicles will appear in June, with prices starting at £22,555.
