A fleet management review focusing on best practice in procurement and vehicle management has been launched at Europcar.

The review of fleet operations follows successful implementation of similar schemes in Europe.

Following the review, the firm will consider whether its current procurement and vehicle management strategies can be improved.

Among the issues being covered are procurement techniques for ordering from manufacturers and how to improve purchasing terms.

A spokesman said: “In terms of what we hope we can achieve with this, we are very ambitious about the impact and the potential savings.

"There will be a series of ongoing improvement processes.”

In addition to the review, the firm’s IT system has been upgraded to help it ensure vehicle are on the right holding period from manufacturers to ensure they achieve the right balance of profit against costs such as depreciation.
