Fleets claim that managing drivers who cover business mileage in private cars will be one of their biggest challenges this year.

A survey of more than 100 fleet operators has revealed that grey fleet management is a growing concern for the majority of companies.

The survey, carried out as part of research for the annual Hit for Six Conferences, which take place in Oxford on September 16 and Bradford on September 30, showed that grey fleet management was one of the top issues for 60% of fleets.

Among the other key issues highlighted were fuel cost management (see page 3), green fleet management – seen as a vital issue by 55% of fleet operators – wholelife costs, controlling wear and tear, insurance issues and effective tendering.

The results of the survey will be used to create the six subject areas around which the conference is based, so the content is entirely decided by fleet decision-makers.
