Bob Durno, fleet manager, Harry Fraser Catering
Describe your fleet
We have six vans of varying sizes and makes and we occasionally hire 12-tonne vans for large jobs.
How did you get into the fleet industry?
I have been in the transport industry since I left the Royal Navy in 1979 and somehow found my way into fleet.
What is your favourite part of the job?
Getting out and about and meeting new faces. In this job I like to be as hands-on as I can, as opposed to
just sitting and “driving a desk”.
And your least favourite aspect of the role?
The mountain of paperwork that is now a way of life in fleet, especially concerning health and safety issues and new Government legislation on corporate manslaughter and duty of care.
What are you working on at the minute?
Getting all of our vehicles and equipment serviced, repaired and ready for a busy period ahead.
What would make your job easier?
Another pair of hands as things are getting busy.
