Simon Leitch, corporate business development manager, GE Capital Solutions, Fleet Services

How was your first day?
Enlightening – it was a real learning curve for me.

How does your new role vary from your last job?
Significantly, as all focus at GE is applied to creating customer value. If you can’t bring an existing or potential client value in terms of enhancing and improving their fleet provision, then you shouldn’t be talking to them.

What challenges have you faced so far?
There’s a lot to do, so organising my time has really been the biggest challenge.

What are you working on at the moment?
The results of a fleet analysis for a prospective customer. This will deliver some significant savings for them.

How is the fleet industry changing?
There is some good technology available in the fleet industry but suppliers should remember that new products of this type are no match for good service, clear advice and consistent pricing.

What item could you not live without?
My iconic 20-year-old Bang & Olufsen stereo.
