The importance of drink and drug policies is to be hammered home to companies at this year’s Hit for Six Conference, following the shock experience of one firm.

A major company, which operates a fleet of more than 5,000 vehicles, found that 40% of employees tested after being involved in a crash or after they were suspected of being impaired at work, were abusing illegal drugs or alcohol.

While many companies are focused on alcohol abuse, the tests showed 95% were abusing drugs.

Drug and alcohol testing expert Grendonstar will provide a guide to drug and alcohol policies and case studies of fleets that have introduced them at this year’s Hit for Six Conference.

Other subjects to be covered at the event are grey fleet, green fleet and driver management, effective purchasing policies, and future fleet choices.

The Hit for Six South Conference takes place in Oxford on September 16, while Hit for Six North is held in Leeds/Bradford on September 30. The two conferences contain the same content.
