Carillion, a major support services and construction company, has awarded a contract to Manheim Auctions for the remarketing of its fleet of 18,000 vehicles, one third of which are cars and two thirds commercial vehicles.

Manheim Auctions will be responsible for the remarketing of 70% of the Carillion fleet until the end of 2010 with the possibility of a 12-month extension thereafter.

The remarketing of Carillion’s LCVs will be handled through Manheim’s seven CV auction centres, while the cars will be sold through its Birmingham, Colchester and Manchester centres.

Manheim will also be responsible for a central car de-fleet operation for the inspection and reconditioning of the cars and then for their subsequent onward delivery for sale.

In addition, Manheim will be assisting Carillion with the administration and management if its re-allocated vehicles from the central storage compound in Birmingham where the vehicles will be appraised, repaired, cleaned and delivered to new customers.

Steven Danks, Carillion’s supply chain manager said: “The growth of Carillion in recent years has resulted in the need for a well managed and structured vehicle remarketing programme and Manheim’s wealth of experience and expertise will contribute greatly to this process.”
