Leeds Uni opts for car club to cut emissions

Leeds Metropolitan University has awarded a new contract to supply fully managed and maintained environmentally friendly cars to Corporate Car Club.

The contract is initially for four vehicles - three Toyota Prius hybrids and a Yaris 1.4 D4d, which emits less than 120g/km of CO2. They are for the business use of university staff.

The car club already has 100 members signed up.

Scheme members, who are issued with their own key card to access vehicles, are encouraged to use public transport to get to work and then use the pool cars for business once at work.

The vehicles can also be booked for private use and are invoiced directly to the individual.
