Fleet CV: Dennis Dugen, group car fleet manager, WSP Consulting Engineers

How many vehicles are you responsible for?
We have 611 cars, including 12 vans, plus 315 cash-for-car takers.

What are you working on at the moment?
We are developing an intranet-based risk management module for our company car, cash-for-car and grey fleet drivers.

How did you get into the fleet industry?
I worked with KPMG from 1990 and was asked to look after their 220 car fleet in the north-west.
I subsequently undertook consultancy projects reviewing their clients’ car fleet operations. I moved to WSP as their group fleet manager eight years ago.

Would you recommend a career in fleet?
Fleet management is challenging but very rewarding and will be undergoing great changes in the future. Anyone who enjoys asset management in a fast-changing environment will love fleet management.

What is your favourite holiday destination?
Santorini. It is my favourite Greek island and my idea of heaven.
