Mercedes-Benz revises its luxury S-Class next year, with minor visual tweaks and major changes under the skin.

The big news is that both petrol and diesel hybrid S-Classes will be available by 2010.

The first hybrid, the S400, will have a 275bhp petrol V6 that will make 295bhp when combined with the electric motor.

It will also include a stop/start feature and regenerative braking.

The S300 diesel hybrid will utilise existing Bluetec technology that injects urea into the engine to reduce NOx emissions. It promises 221bhp, 52.3mpg and 142g/km of CO2.
