Small fleets could gain the most financial benefit from going green, despite their fears that it could actually cost them money.

Recent research revealed that more than 70% of companies with fleets of up to 100 vehicles rate having a green fleet as important or very important.

But that figure is not matched by a keenness to invest, as 56% are not prepared to allocate any budget, latest research shows.

The benefits of going green will be shown in detail at the annual Hit for Six Conference, to be held in Oxford on September 16 and Bradford/Leeds on September 30.

A session on green fleet management will provide personal case studies from two fleet operators showing how they have benefited from an environmental focus.

The presentations will look at the issue from the point of view of a fleet operator to show that the benefits are well worth the effort of introducing change.

Other subjects covered at the event will be risk management, grey fleet management, effective purchasing policies, driver management and finance.
