West Yorkshire Police has joined a new warranty scheme which aims to get damaged fleet vehicles back on the road as soon as possible.

It has become the first force in the country to join Volvo’s Internal Warranty Scheme, which allows staff in its transport department to carry out their own internal warranty work – avoiding any unnecessary delays.

“With the internal warranty scheme, we are able to recoup the cost of the vehicle repair and we will have a much quicker turnaround as well,” said Keith Hidle, workshop manager for the transport department.

“The department itself has purchased diagnostic equipment, which not only facilitates warranty repairs but also helps with the maintenance of those vehicles that are no longer covered by the warranty scheme.”
