The Volkswagen Golf has been voted the Best Lower Medium Car in the 2010 Fleet News awards.

The Volkswagen Golf proves once again it is the car to beat in a class with no shortage of extremely high-achieving products.

Building on the abilities of the previous version of the Golf, it is attractive, solidly built and good to drive, doing everything very well and has a sophisticated feel – remaining an aspirational vehicle compared with other lower-medium cars.

The Golf is offered with a broad range of petrol and diesel engines as well as ultra-low CO2 emissionversions in its Bluemotion range.Comfort and refinement were improved when this model was introduced at the beginning of 2009.

Judges’ comments
High residual values, low CO2 emissions, impressive wholelife costs and strong driver appeal make the Golf a winner. It’s the vehicle that everyone aspires to in this sector; it’s sensibly priced and will retain its value. The Golf continues to be the benchmark in this sector.
