Arval has finalised a four-year contract with Finning (UK) Ltd for the supply of company cars and LCVs.

The contract will see Arval providing 200 company cars and 400 LCVs to the Caterpillar dealer, following a wide-ranging fleet review project that Finning began in late 2009. The review focused on a number of key areas including cost management, safety and driver comfort and a requirement to further reduce the company’s carbon footprint and the overall environmental impact of its fleet.

To help support appropriate solutions particular emphasis was placed upon manufacturer selection and the outfitting of the LCV fleet, as well as operational aspects such as accident management, vehicle policies and short-term rental requirements.

The result of the extensive review was a decision to reduce the company car list from multiple manufacturers and over 3000 model variations to a list containing three manufacturers and approximately 50 model variations. All vehicles on the current company car list are required to have a minimum NCAP 4 star rating, ESC as standard and a maximum CO2 output of 160g/km.

Lesley Starling for Finning (UK) comments:  “While not without its challenges, the project has been extremely well received by both the company and its employees and renewals of the fleet are now well underway with a forecast of over half of the fleet being in the renewal process by the end of 2010.”

Fiona Hall, commercial directorfor Arval says: “We are delighted to have worked alongside Finning (UK) during this important review of their fleet requirements. Our Consultancy team was able to demonstrate across all the key areas under review an ability to meet the key cost management, safety and environmental objectives set by Finning. We look forward to working alongside them.”
