A new free fleet recognition scheme designed to provide operational support for fleet operators in Mid-Devon has been launched.

Lord Henley, Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Waste Management and Recycling at Defra, announced his support for the free scheme being run by Mid-Devon District Council for commercial operators of vans, trucks, buses and coaches in the Mid Devon area.

Lord Henley said “I’m pleased to support the launch of the ECO Stars scheme in Mid Devon. It builds on the success of the ECO Stars South Yorkshire scheme over the last two years and is a good example of a local authority working together with commercial vehicle operators to help improve efficiency and air quality.

“ECO Stars is the kind of practical measure which local authorities can introduce as a part of their air quality action plan.”

The ECO Stars (Efficient and Cleaner Operations) Fleet Recognition Scheme, helps Mid-Devon’s HGV, LGV, bus and coach fleet operators gain recognition for their commitment to improving efficiency, reducing fuel consumption and reducing emissions – all helping to improve local air quality.
