Classic Fine Foods opts for Balloon One’s PDA system

Classic Fine Foods has automated its proof of delivery (POD) using a PDA system from Balloon One.

The mobile software enables the premium foods company to streamline administration (reducing labour by two to three hours a day), while improving customer service.

It replaces the company’s original method of producing multiple delivery notes/invoices for each order. The customer would keep one and sign another copy, which the driver would bring back to base as POD for filing.

The PODs took several hours a day to manage, and made it more difficult to respond efficiently to customers’ enquiries as someone would need to retrieve the documents from the archives.

Now each driver has a Motorola ES400 PDA, running Balloon One's Springboard Mobile, for scanning the actual delivery note/invoice handed to the customer with the order. The person receiving the goods then signs the PDA screen and the driver enters their name onto the device, which is time-stamped automatically. The PDA then sends the data back to the office.
