Citroën’s Trafficmaster Smartnav and Trackstar stolen vehicle tracking package has just been enhanced for 2012 with a number of significant operational and safety improving features.

One key enhancement is the ability to call for emergency assistance via the SOS icon on the colour touchscreen. Touching this symbol gives the driver access to B-Call (breakdown call) and E-Call (emergency call) facilities. All B-Calls go directly to The AA to ensure the fastest possible response. Other emergencies, such as accidents or driver medical problems, are handed directly by Trafficmaster via the E-Call facility. Trafficmaster then liaise with the emergency services.

When the driver uses the E-Call function, the driver’s details and GPS location are transmitted simultaneously to Trafficmaster. This feature is soon to be replicated for the B-Call function to The AA.

European legislation will require that all vehicles have similar breakdown and emergency call features from 2015.
The new 5-inch colour screen fitted to all new Berlingo, Dispatch and Relay panel vans comes with:-

  • Full colour UK and European mapping (European routing requires additional subscription).
  • A choice of 2D or 3D graphics.
  • A choice of mapping colours.
  • Visuals of the route overlaid on the map, as well as next direction and distance displays.
  • Auto-zoom function, plus additional pan and zoom facility.

Scott Michael, Citroën’s Commercial Vehicle Operations Manager commented: “Citroën LCVs are designed to deliver both optimum environmental performance and low whole life operating costs. In its latest form, Citroën’s unique Trafficmaster and Trackstar telematics package materially assists in this process by helping to improve productivity, reduce driver stress levels and raise safety standards.”
