Following a competitive tender process co-ordinated by North Wales Police Authority, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service (NWFRS) has announced the appointment of Chevin Fleet Solutions as its sole provider of fleet management software.

Required to facilitate enhanced management of the organisation’s 200 vehicles and associated assets, and following an in depth systems specification audit scheduled to be conducted later this month, Chevin Fleet Solutions will be rolling out a specially tailored version of the latest version of its web-based solution, FleetWave.

Once fully developed and implemented, the FleetWave system will automate a number of processes within NWFRS’s fleet department, including compliance management, whilst providing a centralised, web-accessible database for all necessary fleet related information.

In depth analysis of a series of user-defined key performance indicators will also be a prominent feature of the software, enabling NWFRS to receive scheduled emails containing graphically-based reports relating to the performance of a number of key areas, such as fuel consumption and workshop productivity.

Geraint Jones, fleet workshop manager at NWFRS, said: “The nature of the sector in which we operate demands that our fleet runs efficiently in order to reduce costs through process analysis and achieve very high standards of vehicle and equipment maintenance, in order to be prepared for whatever emergency situation presents itself.

“For us to continue this level of readiness and optimisation, with an expanding fleet and rise in demand, reliance upon manual administration and analysis was no longer a viable option.

“As a public sector organisation, our fleet manager Dave Bond required a solution that would ensure we received a tangible return on our investment.

“Therefore embracing technology was a key factor in our decision making process. After researching the market and receiving both proposals and demonstrations from a number of key fleet software providers, selecting FleetWave seemed like the obvious choice both in terms of the features and the flexibility of the system.”

Ashley Sowerby, managing director of Chevin Fleet Solutions, added: “Being awarded the contract from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service marks a major achievement for Chevin Fleet Solutions as the organisation will become our first UK Fire and Rescue Service to be using the latest version of our FleetWave software.

“We already work with a number of global fire authorities, including New South Wales Fire Service, but breaking into this space so quickly after launching the new software to market is real recognition of the scale and flexibility our systems offer.

“I’m certain that North Wales Fire & Rescue Service’s customised system will deliver some significant cost savings in the fleet department and play a leading role in improving day-to-day process management for the organisation.”
