Addison Lee welcomes the cancellation of September’s hike in fuel duty.

Following today’s budget announcement, which includes a freeze on the planned fuel duty rise, Liam Griffin, managing director of Addison Lee, said: "The Chancellor has made the right decision to freeze fuel duty and cut taxes for business. Britain is a great car economy, and its motorists deserve a fair price at the pump.

"A number of studies have shown that expensive fuel prices can be associated with a drop in GDP. The AA and ONS have both said that fuel taxes are regressive and can be a lag on the economy.

"At a fast-growth firm like Addison Lee, we need to see the government are willing to stand by businesses such as ours in the tough times as well as the good.

"We believe that the whole economy will benefit from this sensible measure."
