Peter Aldous, MP, and Paul Barkshire, operations director for Lings Honda, were present for the opening of Enterprise Rent-A-Car’s first branch in Lowestoft.

The branch, situated at the same site as the Lings Honda dealership on Riverside Road in Lowestoft, is the latest addition to Enterprise’s growing network of more than 370 locations throughout the UK.

In addition, it brings new employment opportunities. Enterprise is looking to recruit five new people to work at the branch, in addition to relocating experienced employees to help train and mentor local hires. The plan is to extend this to more local employment as the business moves forward in the area.

The new location is part of a wider network of four existing branches across Suffolk.

Peter Aldous, MP for Lowestoft, said, “Business is at the heart of regeneration and I am very pleased to be welcoming a company of the size and stature of Enterprise Rent-A-Car into the town of Lowestoft. We are a community with a strong history and heritage, which has benefitted from the influence of many newcomers over many years. I look forward to seeing Enterprise grow and prosper in our town.”

Janene Scurfield, Enterprise Rent-A-Car’s general manager for the East Midlands and East England region, commented: “We are fortunate to have a strong and developing business in East Anglia, which enjoys the support of local businesses and the community. The new branch in Lowestoft bridges an important gap in an area which can be hard to access by public transport and where reliance on the motor vehicle is high. This is a big step forward for Enterprise in Suffolk. We are looking forward to getting to know the area and its people better and to building strong roots in the community.”

Paul Barkshire, operations director of Lings Honda, said, “Enterprise has been a customer of Honda for many years, and I am very happy that we are now going to be sharing a site in Lowestoft which will bring a new resource to the community and Enterprise’s respected customer service culture. Enterprise will make an important addition to our local business community.”
