Glass’s has announced the appointment a new chief car editor Rupert Pontin.

Pontin joined the business at the beginning of April and will lead the existing team of car editors in continuing to provide accurate and reliable valuation data for companies operating in the UK car market.

He has 27 years' experience in the management, valuation and strategic remarketing of new and used vehicles. He has worked for a number of key automotive manufacturers and leasing companies including British Car Auctions and Car Shop, in addition to running his own successful independent used car retail business.

Pontin will be responsible for valuation data collation and increasing Glass’s profile to the customers – dealers, manufacturers, leasing companies and industry bodies - that use Glass’s data.

He said: "Having spent many years working in the used car market, Glass’s is an obvious next step for me. It’s an instantly recognisable brand, and I really believe that the data and insight we provide to the industry can make a positive impact on our customers businesses. I’m looking forward to working with the team to raise the profile of what Glass’s can offer."

Richard Parkin, director of valuations and analysis at Glass’s, said: "This is an exciting and challenging time for Glass’s. Working in a fast paced and ever developing market means we must be committed to working closely with our customers to provide solutions that really support their business.

"With the launch of G2 and Radar last year, and an ever developing portfolio of products in the pipeline, our vision is to be the market leader in automotive data. We believe Rupert’s industry knowledge and expertise will help us achieve that vision."
