Zenith has teamed up with the Calverley Horticultural Society to help support the Feed Leeds initiative. Feed Leeds encourages people to promote and support the growth of edible plants in the city.

A group of ten volunteers from Zenith planted 1,000 plants, including lettuces, sweet corn, beetroot, fennel, chard and globe artichokes in a vegetable bed in Calverley Park. The plants were provided by Leeds Council and, as well as encouraging others to grow edible plants, it is hoped that the bed will help the village maintain the Gold medal awarded last year to Calverley in Bloom. Judging for the In Bloom competition takes place in July.

Zenith volunteers have signed up to the project as part of the company’s CSR programme, which includes providing support to help sustain the local community. The team will continue to volunteer their time every Friday to maintain and weed the area.

Marisa Jerrison, head of human resources and development for Zenith, said: “This has been a great initiative for Zenith employees to get involved in. As we are based in Calverley it enables us to encourage our community to grow their own food, as well as provide an attractive addition to the local park.”
