TRG Vehicle Hire has appointed Simon Mooney into the role of marketing manager.

Mooney will be responsible for coordinating the company's marketing activity, and putting processes in place to manage TRG's rapid growth. Moving forward, one of his core areas of focus will be search engine optimisation and pay-per-click activity, to help support web bookings.

He said: "My role will be to ensure that more vehicles are driven off the forecourt. So many vehicle hire bookings are made online - my team therefore needs to ensure that the company's website is fully optimised, especially for local audiences."

Prior to joining TRG, Mooney worked for IHS for nearly 10 years, where he held the role of senior product marketing manager - managing product launches, instigating market research and creating sales tools kits (including website management).

Nigel Schroder, managing director at TRG, said: “Simon brings a wealth of experience to the role, and has already started to deliver in a number of the areas he was charged with developing.

"TRG has grown so quickly since its inception less than two years ago – it is often difficult to keep up with the pace of change. We knew the time had come to really invest in our marketing, and to bring in a heavyweight - someone who could steer it with both the short- and long-term objectives in mind."

Mooney added: "My feet haven't touched the ground since I started only a short while ago. But, I am excited by the company and also by the sector - there are some real challenges ahead, but I believe we will make a real success of the marketing and help to drive the business to the next stage of growth."
