Nexus Vehicle Management, provider of corporate vehicle rental and software, has announced the launch of its fleet management system, Nexfleet.

The initial set-up of the system is quick and easy, and can be ready to use in less than 10 minutes. The system provides a dashboard for all aspects of fleet management; from driver management, vehicle maintenance to Motor Insurance Database (MID) reporting and driver licence checking. Users can also benefit from discounts on a whole range of services such as tyres, replacement windscreens and servicing through a network of top class suppliers at a touch of a button.

Many tasks are automated, events are scheduled and a range of event or time driven alerts help to ensure no task is ever missed. Information is updated in real time, enabling managers to identify trends, issues and opportunities.

The software enables fleet managers to simply enter a registration into the system to access a full vehicle profile and history report. The date of acquisition, funding method, predicted disposal details, Future MOT, tax and MID monitoring will then become automated,, with reminders sent directly to the fleet manager and available on the dashboard.

Driver training and behavioural monitoring in Nexfleet provides a range of both employee and business benefits. These include continuous improvement of road safety performance, reduced insurance premiums and claims, reduced fuel consumption and vehicle wear and tear. Nexfleet’s online post-test and risk management training modules include speed awareness, hazard perception, competence and concentration. There are no penalties or restrictions on usage, and multiple users are allowed.

Peter McGinty, facilities manager at PerfectHome, who run a fleet of 180 vehicles, said: “Nexfleet has revolutionised the way we manage our fleet here at PerfectHome. We were originally using an Access database to manage our fleet, now we have one system where we can order tyres and windscreens, manage driving licence data, update the MID and perform mileage updates instantly. We can also undertake bulk tasks. Nexfleet has given PerfectHome more control over our fleet and in doing so, saving us up to two days’ work per week”.

Nexus managing director, John Ellis, said: “Nexfleet has been specifically designed to help fleet managers maintain their fleet and driver records, and increase training to avoid costly repairs by identifying problems early enough for them to be put right quickly and at minimal cost. When running a fleet of vehicles, fleet managers are obliged to meet their duty of care responsibilities. Identifying failings in vehicles or driver capabilities early on allows for a much better chance of correction before they turn into costly faults or failures.

“And there are benefits for drivers too as the law states the driver is responsible, and therefore liable, for the roadworthiness of the vehicle they are driving. Not only will your employees appreciate that their vehicle is being maintained to the highest possible standard, it will also mean that the likelihood of them incurring any driving penalties is reduced.”
