The Leasedrive Group is entering a team of 18 riders in a 350-mile, four-day, ‘Road to Geneva’ charity bike ride between Luxembourg and Geneva in aid of four charities.

The team, led by group head of IT, Paul Newman, aims to raise a minimum of £10,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care, Macmillan Cancer Support, Mencap and Scope.

Roddy Graham of Leasedrive, said: “The three previous major charity rides – the 250-mile 2008 London to Paris ride, the 270-mile 2010 Wokingham to Le Mans ride and the 400-mile 2012 Wokingham to Luxembourg ride raised over £48,000 for various nominated charities. Now the team resumes where it left off in Luxembourg to raise more monies for worthy causes.

“Marie Curie Cancer Care has been one of our clients and nominated company charities since 2005, Scope since 2006, Mencap since 2010 and Macmillan Cancer Care since 2012. All are extremely worthy causes and we hope that once again as many friends and industry colleagues will support us as possible.”

The latest challenging route will take the team through France and three National Parks, including the beautiful Jura mountains on the French/Swiss border. The ride will start from Luxembourg on Thursday 26 June and will cover 103 miles to Nancy, France. Day two is 93 miles between Nancy and Belfort. Day three is 74 miles from Belfort to Pontarlier and the last day covers 81 miles from Pontarlier, dropping down into the lakeside city of Geneva. In the process the team will climb over 16,250 feet.

The Leasedrive Group is covering the fuel, support vehicles and cycle shirt top costs, as well as underwriting its participating employees’ time-off, with each rider making contributions towards their flights, accommodation and food costs during the event.
