Tyresafe is encouraging companies to register for its campaign pack to promote October's Tyre Safety Month.

The month long campaign will be raising awareness about the importance of driving on tyres with adequate tread depth, and after the wettest winter on record, will include essential advice about minimising the risk of aquaplaning.

“The weather last winter was truly treacherous and at times like these, it’s essential that your tyres are safe and legal,” explains Stuart Jackson, chairman, TyreSafe.

“This October we’ll be working hard to remind drivers about this by asking them to take the 20p test or to visit a local retailer for a free tyre safety check. However, we can only achieve so much on our own and I’d like to call upon as many organisations as possible to join us in raising awareness during the month and help make it the most successful tyre safety month to date."

Campaign materials available to supporters include leaflets, posters, as well as digital assets such as an animation and video demonstrating the dangers of aquaplaning.

“October may still seem like a while away, but you can be sure it will be here before you know it,” concludes Jackson. “By ordering your materials today, you can be sure to receive them in good time so that you can plan some fantastic, high-impact activity in and around your own business.”

Entries open for Tyresafe awards

The organisation has also opened entries for its 2014 awards.

Entries are being invited into seven different categories covering the main types of organisations which support the group’s activities including tyre and car manufacturers, emergency services and its community award among others.

TyreSafe will also present its outstanding achievement award, which in 2013 was awarded to the Highways Agency, to the organisation demonstrating the most exceptional contribution to raising awareness about the dangers associated with illegal and defective tyres.

“Last year’s awards were a fantastic occasion which allowed us to not only celebrate and recognise the efforts of our peers, but also to draw inspiration about a wide range of tyre safety initiatives,” Jackson added.

Entries into the 2014 TyreSafe Award must be submitted by Friday, November 5 with the ceremony taking place at St Johns Hotel, Solihull on Friday, November 28.
