Volkswagen Group Leasing, part of Volkswagen Financial Services, has appointed Nigel Kerr as its new head of sales.

Kerr was previously the director of asset finance at Lombard North Central and has more than 25 years’ experience working in the contract hire and vehicle management industry.

He has been bought on board to expand the sales team and help them meet Volkswagen Group Leasing’s ambitious growth plans to become the UK’s leading vehicle leasing and finance business.

He will particularly be focusing on developing the businesses’ 100-plus fleet market as well as helping to lead Volkswagen Group Leasing’s expansion into the international market.

Reporting into Martin Ballard, corporate solutions director, he will be working closely with the front line sales people across the UK’s regions and within Volkswagen Group Leasing’s horizontal and vertical markets, including commercial vehicles and public sector.

Kerr has held a number of senior management roles within Lombard Vehicle Management, and even after the closure of the business, he was retained by Lombard to head up their asset finance division in South East England.

He was also responsible for setting up Lombard Vehicle Management’s SME team and making it one of the most profitable departments across the company.

He was appointed as the Lombard Vehicle Management representative on the local Corporate Bank Partnership Board.

During his career, he has also held management roles at Alphabet, part of the BMW Financial Services Group.
