Former Kwik-Fit Fleet MD Ron Bambra dies

Kwik-Fit Fleet former managing director Ron Bambra died on January 15, aged 71.

Bambra, helped establish the fleet division of the company in St Albans 25 years ago, and held a number of positions in the organisation before retiring in 2002.

He also held a non-executive director role at Manheim Auctions.

John Bailey, executive vice president, International, at Cox Automotive (parent company of Manheim) said: “Ron was one of the motor industry’s much-liked characters, whose depth of knowledge and experience in the sector, notably gained when he steered Kwik-Fit to great heights during the 80’s and 90’s, was impressive.

"He was with Manheim in a non-executive director capacity for three years after his retirement from Kwik-Fit in 2002 and was greatly respected within our company. He will be truly missed and our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.”

Ron allowed me to start a career in sales, having had no previous experience. He was a true gentleman and gave me the inspiration to develop my career both in sales in the automotive industry and eventually to set up my own business. Thank you Ron.

What a great loss - Ron was a truly great person - always had time for everybody.

I an sorry Ron Bambra has died but you are mistaken. Jack Earl set up kwik Fit fleet with Sir Tom Farmer and I expect if you ask him he will confirm that Ron Brambra was employed by the above as Managing Dircector to run the fleet division not the founder. Thank you. Ann Earl

That is what I am talking about. Jack Earl with Sir Tom Farmer founder KWIK FIT FLEET speak to the man himself he will confirm this.

Ann - if you read the article carefully - it clearly states Kwik Fit Fleet' not the all conquering Kwik Fit - the founding and success of which can be attributed to Ron. Without Ron, Kwik Fit would not have become the force it did in the fleet sector. RIP Ron
