Alphabet has launched ‘Charge before you buy’ with EDF Energy to enable customers to explore whether electric vehicles fit their fleet.

Three charge points are available for customers to lease between one and three months.

Offering up to 32 Amp charging, the points give an “at the pump charging experience” while free-standing non-invasive pinnacles ensure that there is minimal disruption to the customers property, says Alphabet.

Mark Constable, senior product manager at EDF Energy, said: “For a number of years now, EDF Energy has been working closely with the automotive industry to help bring developments in EV charging to the market.

“Fully or partially-electrified vehicle fleets mean a large decrease in carbon emissions which can have a real impact on a company’s reduction targets.”

Kit Wisdom, head of corporate mobility at Alphabet, said: “Through our collaborative approach with EDF Energy, we are able to launch the next stage of our AlphaElectric product line-up. “Charge before you buy is yet another step in the right direction in demonstrating that the use of electric vehicles in fleets is credible.”

AlphaElectric is a key product in Alphabet’s portfolio of business mobility services. This comprises a suite of funding solutions and fleet management services, including strategic consultancy, corporate and employee car schemes, commercial vehicles, corporate car sharing, risk management, vehicle rental, accident management, as well as service and maintenance options.
