Corporate car sharing, how one company saved £130k

Our client (leader in aeronautics, space and related services) approached us in 2008 looking for a corporate car sharing provider for their largest company site. Corporate car sharing is a private car sharing scheme dedicated to employees, which can be used for both business and private journeys. When implemented the concept consists of a network of dedicated vehicles on a company site, which employees book for the time they need. The cars are accessed by access card or smartphone and at the end of the booking the car is returned to its space, ready for the next employee to use.

Our client was looking to significantly cut down on costs, with one of their aims to specifically make savings on their fleet. This type of solution was to help them overcome key areas of improvement which were identified including the management of keys and availability of cars, grey fleet, short-term rental costs and the reduction of CO2 emissions.

It was about making the whole process more efficient for fleet managers and employees. With corporate car sharing, cars are fully managed, and easily booked by employees, removing the unnecessary time spent on managing pool cars, keys and bookings. Costs are easily allocated to relevant cost centres and detailed reporting shows who used the vehicle, for what, when and how many miles they travelled. Detailed data also allows for the constant optimisation of the fleet, allowing for an organisations fleet needs to evolve alongside the business.

Through the implementation of the Ubeeqo solution our client saw an increase in availability of their vehicles, reduction of their grey fleet, mileage and TCO, as well as a 92% employee satisfaction rate. Through the combination of our expertise and elements of their current situation which were improved and optimised we were able to help them make an estimated savings of 31% which resulted in a total estimated cost reduction of £130k.
