Successful business transformation starts and ends with people. Having the right stakeholders engaged and on-board with the project from day one can remove a large barrier to organisational change.

Transitioning a fleet to electric is no exception. This process is not exclusive to the fleet operators and the drivers. You’ll need input and buy-in from stakeholders across the company – finance, procurement, facilities, marketing, ESG, etc.

And, while there are a multitude of benefits in the switch to electric, there are still common misconceptions which may cause concern among key stakeholders. Are the vehicles suitable for the job? Is it really positive for the environment? Why even bother?

So, how do you go about turning those stakeholders from blockers to advocates?

Bring them along on the journey. Consider starting out with a clear EV mission statement, communicating that change is happening and will require collaboration across the business to succeed. Then you need to help them understand why – why now, who will be involved, how the move will benefit them and what is the potential for the wider business.

Early inclusion and onboarding of drivers, in particular, is critical to the process to prevent concern or reluctance to the change.

Data and success stories from other companies will support those conversations – which is why it’s important to pick the right charging partner.

EO can support you from day one of your fleet transition, providing guidance, data, education and training for employees, as well as a premium charging solution.
