Motiva Group is hoping major investment in new technology can help the company establish itself as one of the leading players in the UK fleet industry.

The vehicle leasing and rental specialists have spent £750,000 on an 18-month project to replace its current IT platform with software provided by automotive management specialists Bynx.

And, sales director Peter Wright believes the technology, which went live last week, can help drive the company to the next level.

He said: “Our new contract management system will help us compete with the biggest firms in the country.

“It’s a major investment, but one we think will pay big long-term dividends. It will give us the ability to provide several services we were unable to offer before. It will lift us ahead of our immediate rivals and takes us into the big league.”

Wright said Bynx Fleet’s new web-based system would replace Motiva’s current CFC CM3 platform, which has been in place since 2001. It will also provide the company with a new vehicle rental and finance accounting systems.

The software enables customers to maximise the lifetime value of vehicle assets, reduce costs and manage their entire contract hire or rental fleet using one unified leasing application.

It creates an advanced online facility for customers offering lease quoting, short-term vehicle rental reservation, portal access enabling end customers to retrieve contracts and ‘in-life’ vehicle information.

The system also offers exception reporting - important for security, data accuracy and compliance - and a comprehensive portfolio of reporting capability.

Larger customers will be able to build their own reports from functional productivity dashboards contained within the system, which will also be used for the Motiva’s own reporting needs.

Wright added: “This will help us to become much more efficient, it will open new doors and can help us to evolve as a company.

“Bynx Fleet is a clear leader in the field and will help give us key advantages in the market.

“It provides a flexible, secure and robust solution that puts customers in full control of their fleet and, importantly, it’s scalable so no matter how fast we grow, the system can grow with us.

“It’s the perfect tool for a company with big plans for expansion.”

Work on a £400,000 project to develop Motiva’s Stoke-on-Trent headquarters is set to start in the summer.

It’s the final part of the company’s move to consolidate its operations at a single site in the city and Wright foresees exciting times ahead. He said: “This technology will play an integral role in our future and means we’re fully geared up for the next stage of our development as a company.

“We’ve made great strides in the last couple of years and have no intention of taking our foot off the gas.

“We have several other big plans in the pipeline and Bynx Fleet will provide us with a helping hand along the way.”

Gary Jefferies, sales and marketing director at Bynx, said: “Motiva are one of the most progressive automotive fleet businesses in the UK and we’re delighted to have them on board.

“We’re investing heavily to ensure Bynx Fleet delivers what’s needed in today’s market and alongside unity, integration and usability, the system provides great online capability and scalability.

“We realise companies in this industry never stand still, so we’ve also developed a fast and efficient implementation process which meant Motiva were up and running with the new system in record time.”
