Addison Lee has appointed Aston Barclay as its remarketing partner following a change in its disposal strategy.

The appointment of Aston Barclay follows an extensive tendering process.

With a mixed UK fleet of 5,000 Ford Galaxys, Mercedes-Benz saloons and V-Class executive minibuses, and a mix of Ford light commercials, Addison Lee switched to physical auction to replace its retail sales strategy.

Aston Barclay is now running alternate weekly sales at Chelmsford and Westbury. During the month-long pilot, Aston Barclay achieved a 100% conversion ratio and has been rewarded with an additional 800 vehicles that will be offered for sale during July and August at Chelmsford and Westbury.

Addison Lee’s vehicle sales and logistics manager Martyn Legg said: “As we aim to reduce the age profile of our fleet it is important to have regular sales in place which is why we went to market to appoint a new remarketing partner.

“Aston Barclay’s flexible, friendly and bespoke approach fitted in with our needs and they saw off many larger suppliers to win the contract.”

Aston Barclay’s chief executive Neil Hodson added: “We are excited to win this competitive tender when we were up against much larger providers. We are pleased to work with such an iconic brand to dispose of its quality used vehicles.”
