Robins & Day has re-signed its solus disposal contract with Aston Barclay under its new group used car brand of By PSA Retail.

Aston Barclay will dispose of up to 12,000 used cars on behalf of 39 sites and 79 franchises which includes the recently-added Go Vauxhall. The age and price of its part exchange stock average out at 12 years and up to £2,700.

Three branded sales per week are being run in Chelmsford, Donington Park and Westbury with cars being taken to the dealer’s nearest auction as Robins & Day aims to reduce delivery road miles and CO2 emissions across its business.

It has embraced a mix of physical and digital since signing the original contract in 2017 and is set to take this to the next level by being the first company to pilot Aston Barclay’s new Cascade product portfolio over the coming months.

Robins & Day’s sales director Richard Garbutt said: “The relationship with Aston Barclay has worked very well and we look forward to being one of the first to look at Cascade in more detail to help optimise disposal routes for individual cars to maximise residual values.

“I am also pleased our remarketing operation is now taking actions to reduce its environmental impact. This is paramount for our group from a local and national perspective.”

Aston Barclay’s group chief executive Neil Hodson said: “Robins & Day is a very dynamic vendor partner to work with as they have embraced a joined up physical and digital approach to sell its part exchange stock, and see the benefits of an end-to-end digital solution coupled with physical fulfilment at our remarketing hubs.

“As dealers look to improve their wholesale returns and maximise their remarketing activities, these systems and processes are vital in generating new value whilst assisting in reducing environmental impact and travel costs.”
