The UK’s leading fleet event is evolving next year to become Fleet & Mobility Live 2020 to reflect the pace of change in the industry.

The new name represents how companies are preparing for the business mobility as a service revolution and how the responsibilities of fleet decision-makers are expanding beyond automotive and will ultimately encompass all areas of mobility.

It marks the second name change for the show, which launched as Fleet Management Live in 2015, illustrating the ever-evolving nature of fleet.

Fleet & Mobility Live 2020 will continue to be guided by an advisory board made up of the leading businesses in the UK.

Lorna McAtear, National Grid fleet manager and advisory board member, said: “Fleet & Mobility Live 2020 needs to look at how the industry is changing with more businesses looking to recruit mobility managers.

“The show should be forward thinking and setting the agenda for the fleet and mobility industry, so it would be remiss not to bring these two elements much closer together.”

Ryan Coles, Aviva group global travel and fleet manager and advisory board member, added: "We have to move beyond just thinking about automotive and to consider the best mobility option for each person, whether that's getting creative with remote working, using public transport, car sharing or providing a vehicle through more traditional means like rental and contract hire.

"The show had already broadened in scope to attract more HR, procurement and finance professionals, but expanding things even further in 2020 will help make sure the event is truly reflective of how the industry is changing."

There will be a greater focus on linking fleet strategy to Government policy, helping business to understand how decisions taken at a national and local level will influence the way they move their people, goods and services about.

Fleet & Mobility Live will also help fleet and mobility managers navigate the market with a wider selection of leading suppliers, including car sharing companies, mobility apps and transport planning.

The change in name will be reflected with seminar session content too, with a wider range of topics covering all aspects of travel planning from the latest on company car taxation, to creating a flexible remote working and mobility policy.

Stephen Briers, Fleet News editor-in-chief, said: “Cars and vans will continue to play a major part in helping businesses to move their people, goods and services around now and in the near future, but we wanted to make sure that the show alsoprovides delegates with a view of the future to help inform their strategies and policies, especially with the growing influence of Government policy around air quality and urban transport.

“Many fleets are looking at mobility as a much broader concept. Vehicle manufacturers, leasing companies and suppliers to the fleet industry are all looking to make sure they’re offering mobility services that are outside the traditional norms and so the launch of Fleet & Mobility Live 2020 makes sure we continue to provide those that are coming to the show with the freshest and most relevant content.”
